The 119 participants, including 73 Cassling employees, 27 spouses and 19 children, took the necessary steps to meet the incentive goal and then some by walking 46 miles over the original 24,906-mile target.

Omaha, Neb. (April 20, 2009) – Soaring health-care costs have hit the U.S. hard. The Kaiser Family Foundation reports that since 1999, health-care costs for private and public employers and workers have increased 119 and 117 percent, respectively. To combat rising health-care costs an increasing number of companies are implementing wellness programs. These programs address behavior and lifestyle choices that, in turn, can help improve employee health and reduce risk factors commonly associated with preventable illness. According to the Wellness Council of America, preventable illnesses make up 70 percent of the entire burden of illness and associated costs in the United States.

Omaha, Neb. (April 1, 2009) – The Omaha Food Bank received 1400 pounds of food as the result of a yearlong employee weight loss challenge launched by Cassling. The Fight Against Hunger: Pound for Pound campaign encouraged employees to donate one pound of food to the Omaha Food Bank for every pound of weight they lost on their way to better health. Cassling then matched each food donation, pound for pound.
