Cassling Diagnostic Imaging Implements Tobacco Cessation Policy
‘Commit To Quit’ Program Encourages A Healthier Work Environment
Omaha, Neb. (June 16, 2006) – Tobacco kills more Americans than auto accidents, homicides, AIDS, drugs and fires combined. Cassling Diagnostic Imaging realizes the harmful effects of tobacco and is taking an aggressive approach to making the organization 100 percent tobacco-free.
Cassling launched the tobacco cessation program, entitled ‘Commit to Quit,’ to help encourage a healthier work environment and improve the overall wellness of Cassling employees and visitors.
Effective January 1, 2007, tobacco use will be prohibited within the building, parking lot and property of Cassling as well as at company-sponsored events and meetings. This policy pertains to all visitors to Cassling and employees of the organization. Promotion of the policy began in April.
“Cassling is committed to improving health care in the communities we serve. We believe that starts at our corporate headquarters,” said Mike Cassling, president and CEO. “We want to create a supportive environment that promotes a healthy lifestyle for our employees, their families and our customers.
”Cassling has provided a number of free resources on the employee Intranet for current tobacco users. In addition, the wellness allowance, which is provided to all wellness members, can be used to fund up to 50 percent of tobacco cessation course fees and prescription/over-the-counter tobacco cessation products.
“Tobacco usage is linked to a number of serious diseases,” Cassling said. “We hope our ‘Commit to Quit’ program will help improve the overall health of our employees and customers by emphasizing the devastating effects of tobacco usage and providing the resources they need to be 100 percent tobacco-free.
”Captain Cassling’s wellness program provides employees and families with the resources they need to improve their overall wellness of the mind, body and soul. Revolved around a fictional character named ‘Captain Cassling,’ the program entices employees to participate in wellness-related activities. Employees and their families benefit from a number of programs including an annual wellness stipend, lunch-n-learn sessions, community outreach opportunities, a monthly wellness e-newsletter, quarterly wellness incentives and more. More than 93 percent of Cassling’s employees participate in the wellness program.
