Ashley McDonald, marketing coordinator Cassling Diagnostic Imaging Begins New Year With Tobacco-free Campus Policy Omaha, Neb. (January 11, 2007) – Cassling first announced its aggressive goal to become a 100 percent tobacco free campus on May 15, 2006, and on Jan. 1, 2007, the company successfully went tobacco-free. “Cassling is committed to improving community health care and we believe the best place to begin this effort is with our own employees,” said President and CEO Mike Cassling. “We know the devastating effects of tobacco use and believe it is our responsibility to protect employees and visitors to our campus, by prohibiting tobacco use in all forms.” The newly-launched policy prohibits the use of all tobacco products within Cassling’s corporate headquarters, parking lot and property. It also is extended to company-sponsored events and meetings. Cassling employees are encouraged to make healthy behavior changes through ‘Captain Cassling’s Wellness Program.’ Prior to establishing the tobacco-free policy, Captain Cassling launched the ‘Commit to Quit’ campaign aimed at helping employees and their spouses become 100 percent tobacco-free. The company provided free cessation resources on its employee Intranet including cessation Web sites, help-lines, a frequently asked questions section and more. In addition, employees and spouses could purchase prescription and over-the-counter tobacco cessation products with the help of their wellness allowance, which is provided to wellness members on an annual basis. Two tobacco cessation luncheons were held in 2006 to provide resources and support to employees and spouses who were making the commitment to improve their health by quitting tobacco use. “Many of our customers have set the pace by transitioning their hospitals and health-care facilities to become tobacco-free,” Cassling said. “For us, becoming a tobacco-free campus is just one more way we are partnering with our customers and our employees to improve health in our community.” About Cassling Diagnostic Imaging Cassling was awarded the Omaha Best Places to Work Award in 2005 and 2006, and recently was recognized as a Silver Well Workplace Award for its commitment to the wellness of its employees and their families.
