Midwest Hospitals Join the Fight for a Free MRI
Siemens Sponsors winanmri.com Contest to Raise Awareness and Community Support

Omaha, Neb. (November 1, 2007) – Nearly 50 hospitals are fighting for a chance to win a free MRI from Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. The contest, www.winanmri.com, opened Oct. 22 and will run through Dec. 31. Twelve Midwest hospitals are in the running.  

The competition is designed to raise awareness for imaging technology and its role in strengthening patient care. Facilities are asked to submit a video describing how owning and operating a MRI will benefit the health and wellbeing of their patients.

“It is great to see so many hospitals on board,” said Lindsay Cosimano, APR, PCM, vice president of marketing at Cassling. “Some of the videos are light-hearted, while others take the emotional angle. Regardless of their creative vision, all of the videos convey the need for MRI technology to help patient care.”

Winanmri.com is open to any acute care hospital, with 180 or fewer staffed, licensed beds that do not offer MRI services through fixed installations.

“This competition is especially relevant here in the Midwest where many hospitals still operate on a mobile unit,” said Mike Cassling, Cassling president and CEO. “It is wonderful to see how entire communities are supporting their local health-care provider.”

Mobile MRI units travel throughout the country providing MRI service to hospitals and imaging centers that do not have an on-site system. As noted in many of the videos, mobile units can be challenging due to scheduling issues, harsh weather and the difficulty of patients to enter the trailers.

Voting for the online contest started Oct. 22, and videos must be submitted by Nov. 30. Beginning January 1, 2008, the votes for each video entry will be tallied and the hospital entrant with the most votes will be so notified on or before January 12, 2008.
