Cassling's Wellness Team to Walk "Around the World" in 60 Days

Omaha, Neb. (Aug. 25, 2009) – On Sept. 1, Cassling wellness members will begin their quest to walk 24,906 miles – enough to go around the world – in 60 days. The “Walking Around the World in 60 Days” incentive is part of Cassling’s ongoing wellness program that encourages employees and their families to live a healthier lifestyle.

Walking is an affordable and accessible form of low-impact exercise with a number of substantial health benefits. As the number of overweight and obese Americans continues to rise, so do the costs of treating these individuals. A routine, 30-minute walk can help burn calories while lowering blood pressure, combating stress, and strengthening muscles and joints. According to the American Heart Association, walking also has the lowest drop rate of any exercise.

Program participants will receive a pedometer to help them track their miles over the 60-day period. At three points, they will be asked to submit their mileage and based on those cumulative miles, Cassling will move around the world. Participants also can receive free pre- and post-incentive fitness assessments to monitor progress and results.

The “Walking Around the World in 60 Days” incentive is just one of the many ways Cassling encourages employee wellness. The company, a Gold Well Workplace Award winner, develops incentives throughout the year for employees and their families to help them keep wellness top of mind.
