MUAM-2018-Collage-Image-1You may have noticed that we’ve gone a little ultrasound-crazy here at Cassling.

It’s not until October that we celebrate Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, or as we’ve taken to calling it, #MUAM (my social media team tells me I have to use the hashtag or it doesn’t count). School is barely back in session, but we wanted to get the party started early so we can properly recognize everything sonographers do for patients and the healthcare field as a whole.

To that end, I want you to know about the celebratory ultrasound promotional toolkit we have available to order. Many of you have likely ordered these annual materials in the past, while for others, this may be your first year. And still there may be some of you reading this who aren’t completely sure what I’m referring to. Let me explain.

We are giving promotional items dedicated to Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, for free, to any healthcare institution who requests materials. By submitting your order by September 7, sonographers, their supervisors, physicians and other healthcare professionals who want to recognize the integral role of the sonographer can order:

  • Full-color 12"x18" Posters
  • Magnets and Stickers
  • Word Search Activity
  • Crossword Puzzle (my personal favorite)
  • News Release

Some of the items are available for immediate download; others will be shipped at no cost to your facility in time for the celebration.

We will also be hosting a webinar on October 18 for sonographers and other attendees to earn 1.0 CE Credit from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (the ARDMS accepts these credits as well). It’s called “Arterial Ultrasound in the Abdomen,” and it’s hosted by Dr. Ann Marie Kupinski.

The webinar is an extension of our popular Investing in You continuing education series, which we now offer in both live and on-demand formats so you can watch and earn CE credits in a way that fits your schedule.

It’s been a big year for ultrasound.

Ultrasound continues to gain ground throughout hospital systems as physicians and others recognize the benefits of a non-invasive means of testing and the expertise of the professionals conducting these tests. It’s been a pleasure to witness this immense growth in ultrasound, driven by technological capabilities and innovative new methods of diagnosing various conditions.

The new technology available in the field is astounding as well. Siemens Healthineers, with whom we partner to provide imaging technology to healthcare entities throughout the country, has generated considerable buzz by introducing two groundbreaking new systems: the ACUSON Sequoia and the ACUSON Juniper.

The Sequoia brings a level of depth penetration that’s unprecedented. To demonstrate this, Siemens is featuring a sumo wrestler as the centerpiece of its promotional launch, and it’s easy to see why. Being able to attain accurate images with larger patients has long remained the goal for sonographers, and with 40 centimeters of penetration possible, the Sequoia has achieved something that greatly benefits diagnoses.

The ACUSON Juniper is remarkable for other reasons. Its light weight and portability are impressive, offering an enhanced degree of comfort that patients and sonographers alike have really responded to.

Meeting You Where You Are

If you’re interested, I invite you to see the ACUSON Sequoia and ACUSON Juniper firsthand at one of the Ultrasound Road Shows we’re hosting throughout the Midwest in October (you can see a full line-up here). We’ll be providing one-on-one demonstrations of the technology with live subjects, letting you get up close and personal to see the technology for yourself.

Each of these events will feature a 1.0 CE credit educational presentation centered around the Sequoia, titled “BioAcoustic Imaging Technology.” If you happen to be in town for the Omaha road show specifically, be sure to stay an extra day to attend our Investing in You seminar, where you can take part in a packed, all-day agenda worth 6.0 CE credits.

For me personally, I’m excited that we’ve been able to bring Cassling closer in touch with the sonography community. Another way we do this is by offering ultrasound equipment service for our customers, the first time we’ve done so in our history. We have a team that’s been introducing themselves to customers throughout the Midwest and responding when any technical issues arise. The feedback we’ve gotten even in just the first couple of months has been extremely positive, as Jerod, Dale and the rest of the Service team have been able to limit downtime and get facilities up and running quickly and safely.

We’ve gone “all-in” on ultrasound at Cassling. I remain committed to providing you with advanced solutions that ultimately impact patient care. The role sonographers play on the care team is more important than ever, and we will continue to support our ultrasound colleagues in the medical community however we can.
