Overview:

3D printing has reached an exciting turning point in healthcare, with adoption and utilization more common than ever. But there’s still work to be done in helping imaging professionals and other healthcare specialists understand the many inventive ways 3D visualization can currently be used in a clinical setting.

In this wide-ranging webinar, we’ll look at the history of 3D printing, how it works, and some of the most common modern applications of the technology, including organ/bioprinting and surgical simulation. We’ll also look at the benefits, challenges and future opportunities that lie ahead for this whole new dimension of healthcare!

Learning Objectives

1.

Gain increased awareness of how 3D printing and 3D digital modeling can help shape customized healthcare for the patient and medical team through patient case scenarios and testimonials.

2.

Identify how 3D printing and 3D digital modeling can be used to provide a medical language that bridges a communication gap between the patient and physician.

3.

Summarize the benefits from personalized point-of-care service.

Blair Kauzlarich, BS, RT(R)(CI)(ARRT)

Administrator of the 3D Printing and Training Center of Excellence; Clarkson College

Blair began her career as a radiographer at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha. She then became ARRT board-certified in Cardiac Intervention and began a journey in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Children’s Hospital. During her 5 years in the cardiac catheterization lab, she discovered her love for 3D printing and 3D segmentation reconstructions.

In 2020, she became an Advanced Imaging Specialist in the radiology department’s Advanced 3D Visualization Lab. It was in this role that she became an expert in all things related to 3D printing, including printing for unique patient cases, research, and the post-processing of CT and MRI exams warranting 3D images and cardiac MRIs for cardiologists.

Blair helped implement the 3D Certificate curriculum at Clarkson College and currently teaches the 3D certification course. She and her team spearheaded the development and opening of the college’s 3D Printing and Training Center in July 2022. She has overseen the lab since then, helping lead a team that helps segment and design 3D prints and participate in collaborative research. The lab recently became a Center of Excellence in partnership with 3D Systems, together providing FDA 510(K) medical devices for customized patient care.
