Every November, the world celebrates the work of radiologists and the impact they make on patient care. Radiologic Technology Week (RTW) is a chance to recognize the skill and behind‑the‑scenes expertise that enhance every patient experience.
As we look ahead to RTW 2026, we’re excited to share this year’s theme from Cassling, highlight some free resources you can use in your department and offer a few ideas to help you celebrate the radiologists who bring so much courage to their work.
The History of Rad Tech Week
National Radiologic Technology Week® (a.k.a Rad Tech Week) was first established in 1979 by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists to honor all medical imaging professionals. The celebratory week was originally set in July but was moved to November to commemorate the anniversary of the X-ray discovery by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on November 8, 1895.
During Rad Tech Week, hospitals and imaging department leaders celebrate the impact and contributions that radiologic technologists make in patient care and modern diagnostics every day. The celebration also educates others on the importance of radiation safety and the different types of medical imaging that take place in the hospitals and clinics in their community.
Cassling's 2026 Theme for Rad Tech Week
Since 2010, Cassling has put together a themed celebration, paired with creative artwork and typically a catchy slogan, to celebrate Rad Tech Week. This year, we’re excited to announce that our 2026 theme for Rad Tech Week is: Scanning New Frontiers.
Inspired by NASA's successful Artemis II mission this year, our theme honors the rad techs who venture into the unknown with skill.
Like the crew members who journeyed the moon, rad techs face darkness, uncertainty and high-stakes decisions, yet continue to guide patients safely through their own personal missions.
