Overview:
Technologists know MRI safety is a crucial part of their everyday workflows. Still, it’s possible for even the most experienced imaging specialists to fall back on bad habits or handle a situation incorrectly, particularly one involving a patient implant.
This presentation will provide a review of the basics of MRI safety before moving on to more advanced situations. It will place special focus on implants and how a decision tree can be used to safely image the affected area. It will also highlight ways to reduce Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and ways to limit risk. The presentation will share details on the different types of implants and provide information on how to handle them safely and effectively.
