Omaha Executive Takes Assertive Behavior from Board Room to Baja

Omaha, Neb. (Nov. 16, 2010) – Mike Cassling, president and CEO of Cassling, is known as an assertive leader always in search of the next big thing. Starting Nov. 18, Cassling will transfer his take charge demeanor from the board room to the Baja Desert to compete in the 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

The Nebraska Dune Destroyers will drive the BC1 car, a wide open baja buggy, in the Baja Challenge Class. The 1,061-mile race starts in Ensenada, Mexico, on Thursday. If successful, the Nebraska Dune Destroyers will cross the finish line in La Paz, Mexico, sometime Friday evening.

    Cassling’s all-star line up includes:

    • Five-time Indy 500 starter Davy Jones
    • Two-time Indy 500 runner-up Roberto Guerrero
    • Current Indy driver Sebastian Saavedra
    • Marco Guerrero
    • Omaha resident Mike Mitten

This is Cassling’s fourth adventure in the Baja 1000. He placed third in 2008 and fourth in 2009. “Nothing compares to the Baja 1000,” he said. “You face the toughest conditions you can imagine and the stints can be 10 to 12 hours long. It’s a long and intense adrenaline rush. You never know what lies ahead.”

The Dune Destroyers will be the first car to take the green flag and start their division. This year’s race includes more than 300 entrants from 37 states and 19 countries. Six teams will compete in the Baja Challenge division and have just 45 hours to complete the race.
