Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) remain a leading occupational health concern in sonography, often resulting in chronic pain, decreased productivity, and even early retirement. This session focuses on evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk of injury during daily scanning.

Learning Objectives:

    • Identify the most common ergonomic risk factors and mechanisms leading to WRMSDs in sonographic practice.
    • Demonstrate proper scanning ergonomics, body positioning, and transducer handling techniques to reduce strain.
    • Apply strategies for optimizing equipment setup, patient positioning, and workflow sequencing to minimize injury risk.
    • Develop a proactive plan for ongoing musculoskeletal health, including stretching, micro-breaks, and ergonomic best practices to sustain a long and healthy career in sonography.
