The purpose of this presentation is to review the normal and abnormal sonographic appearance of the gastrointestinal tract.
This lecture will go over sonographic imaging protocol, provide tips for assessing various gastrointestinal structures and raise awareness of common gastrointestinal pathologies, including small and large bowel intussusception, pyloric stenosis and the varying sonographic appearance of appendicitis. We’ll also discuss how a sonographer’s understanding of ultrasound findings and prompt communication to the radiologist can speed up diagnosis and improve overall patient outcomes.
