Nebraska Spine + Pain Center is an advanced care facility that provides seamless diagnosis, treatment and recovery all under one roof.
At Cassling, we’re driven by our vision to improve healthcare access and outcomes, and that starts with being a trusted advisor to the providers we serve. But it’s when we see that vision in action, in places like Nebraska Spine + Pain Center, that the true impact of the imaging field becomes clear.
Since 1963, Nebraska Spine + Pain Center has delivered unparalleled treatment, with leading-edge technology and facilities, to the Omaha community. With on-site diagnoses, treatment and recovery, Nebraska Spine + Pain has become a one-stop shop for every patient who walks through their doors.
With two MRs in-house, along with several board-certified physicians and technicians, patients benefit from same-day consultation and imaging. That kind of care means reduced appointment delays and accelerated diagnostic and treatment timelines, all while delivering peace of mind to patients already anxious about their health. This also helps patients who come from other states, saving them from multiple travel days and time off work.
To further build upon their capabilities, Nebraska Spine + Pain recently became home to Omaha’s first MAGNETOM Free.Max, Siemens Healthineers’s 80 cm bore, next-generation MR system.
“Our mission is to make advanced imaging as accessible and stress-free as possible,” said Dr. Timothy A. Burd, orthopedic spine surgeon at Nebraska Spine + Pain in a press release. “With the MAGNETOM Free.Max, we can welcome patients who might otherwise defer or avoid imaging due to claustrophobia, weight concerns or anxiety.”
MAGNETOM Free.Max Specs
- The world’s first closed 80cm bore
This is better accommodation for larger patients and for those who present anxiety and claustrophobia during scans. When patients are comfortable and lay still, technicians can capture better images, reducing the procedure time.
- Helium-free infrastructure
By eliminating the need for copious amounts of helium, these MRI systems require less high maintenance, lessen operational costs and leave a smaller environmental footprint.
“The image quality is identical to a 1.5 scanner,” said Jen Levos, lead tech of MRI/CT at Nebraska Spine + Pain. “The software that comes with the Free.Max is called Deep Resolve Boost and that software can help enhance the imaging to look identical to a stronger Tesla scanner.”
“The more we know before we go in, the less chance there is for error during a surgery,” said Dr. Burd. “Having the imaging studies as crisp and clear and up to date as possible is crucial for our success and our patients’ success, ultimately.”
Transformations like this don’t happen overnight. Through precise planning and collaboration, Cassling helped ensure Nebraska Spine + Pain was able to get their system up and running.
Project Manager Jay Daniels guided Nebraska Spine + Pain from initial designs, construction planning all the way through follow-up communication. Twelve weeks later, the clinic’s new MRI system was fully operational, producing high-quality images that give physicians the precise insights they need before entering the operating room. This level of engagement ensured that, from day one, the new MRI system integrated seamlessly into existing operations, supporting both patient experience and clinical excellence.
“The thing I like about Jay is that nothing gets him riled,” said Dave Zauha, executive director at Nebraska Spine + Pain. “He doesn’t miss any details; he thinks ahead and doesn’t let anything fall through the cracks.”
Cassling continues to support Nebraska Spine + Pain in their mission through equipment service and regular software updates.
“Cassling is quick on service when we call them and come in right away to take care of the issue,” said Levos. “And they always call the next day to make sure everything is still functioning, and I love that.”
Cassling is proud to help Nebraska Spine + Pain serve patients with speed, precision and compassion. When a patient leaves their appointment with clarity instead of uncertainty, or a surgeon enters the OR with confidence in their scan, the true value of innovation shines through.
“Private practice has the ability to impact the future of healthcare because you have people engaged that have a vested interest in making the patient happy and providing care on a broad spectrum,” said Zauha. “They care for every patient like they’re taking care of their mom or kid.”
