May marks Women’s Health Month. It’s a time to raise awareness around the importance of prioritizing women’s wellbeing and celebrating how far we’ve come toward addressing breast cancer and so much more.

Historically, women’s health has been underserved, under-researched, and underfunded. Yet today’s healthcare innovators are helping to fill some of these gaps with exciting technology and solutions that are reshaping entirely the conversation around women’s health.

From early breast cancer detection to improved cardiovascular diagnostics, these are the women’s health technology trends that are having an impact in 2025 and beyond.

5 Technologies Making a Difference in Women's Health

MAMMOMAT B.brilliant

Women deserve fewer maybes. It’s sentiments like these that you’ll find connected to MAMMOMAT B.brilliant—a brand-new digital mammography system from Siemens Healthineers.

Deemed the next generation of 3D mammography, the MAMMOMAT B.brilliant is the first and only mammography system featuring PlatinumTomo, which elevates the standard for tomosynthesis. The system’s 50° Wide-Angle tomosynthesis in 5 seconds is designed to be the fastest tomo exam and highest in-depth resolution, with potential to improve mass detectability in mammography.

The system itself is built for both patients and mammographers alike. Patient information is always available via a screen at eye level, while mammographers can easily access patients during the MLO positioning process and reduce repetitive stress injuries.

MAMMOMAT Revelation

The MAMMOMAT Revelation mammography system from Siemens Healthineers prides itself on offering the highest depth resolution on the market. Equipped with 50° wide-angle tomosynthesis, the system provides up to 3.5 times higher depth resolution than narrow-angle systems.

The result, in Siemens's own words: ‘You can see more than you’ve ever been able to see before, giving cancer no place to hide.’

Alongside greater accuracy and higher confidence in your diagnosis, the MAMMOMAT Revelation also features soft compression technology. By adjusting to the anatomy of each patient’s breast, the system prevents unnecessary pain.

Echo IQ

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women, yet it’s often misdiagnosed. To put this in perspective, women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed with a heart attack than men—even though they carry the same risk of developing cardiovascular disease as men.

Built on the largest database of echos linked to mortality in the world, EchoSolv™ aids in the accurate detection of aortic stenosis. The AI platform is intentionally designed to exclude the most common clinical biases, including gender.

EchoSolv can identify 100% of patients at risk of having in-guideline aortic stenosis. The detections themselves happen in under three seconds.

Contrast-Free Breast MRIs

Contrast agents are used to enhance images in breast MRIs, but for some, they pose concerns. This is particularly true for women who have allergies or kidney conditions.

Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) has emerged as a promising alternative that could help make breast MRs more accessible and less invasive. DWI measures how quickly water molecules move within tissues. This allows radiologists to detect abnormalities based on cellular dentistry without having to use injected dyes.

This past year, Stanford announced the launch of a clinical study centered around non-contrast breast MRIs. In their own words, this advancement would “...ultimately allow many more women to have a breast MRI for cancer annual screening.”

Femtech

In 2016, Ida Tin, the founder of Clue—an app designed to help women track their menstrual cycles—coined the term femtech. In the years since, we’ve seen this market grow to include fertility monitors, menopause support tools, pelvic health wearables, and more.

A 2024 Today Show segment spotlighted a few industry leaders in femtech—one of which included the founder of Bloomer Tech. Their flagship product, the Bloomer Bra, integrates patented textile-based sensors into a comfortable, everyday garment to monitor vital signs such as electrocardiograms, pulse rates, and rhythms. Transmitted via Bluetooth to a mobile app, it supports women’s healthcare, management, and early detection.

As Bloomer Tech puts it, ‘Making healthcare inclusive and truly personalized can become a reality.’

A Celebration of Progress, A Glimpse Into the Future

There’s so much to appreciate this Women’s Health Month. From smarter diagnostics to more accessible imaging and personalized care, the last few years have served as a turning point for how we support and prioritize women’s health. 2025 will continue to build on that momentum toward a more inclusive and compassionate healthcare system.
