Overview:

From the board room to the bedside, improving access to care and enhancing patient outcomes is the ultimate goal for imaging professionals. But the road to get there is not one-size-fits-all. This session will feature best practices highlighting the extraordinary work of imaging teams to improve quality, access, safety, staff morale and even community engagement—sourced by finalists for Cassling’s inaugural Imaging for Impact Award!

Participants will hear lessons from a variety of healthcare organizations, including a health system, academic medical center andcritical access hospital. Strategies will include overcoming workforce challenges, providing patient-centered care for diverse populations, and expanding care to underserved populations.

Learning Objectives

1.

Learn strategies to improve the MRI patient experience for diverse patient populations, including: enhancing MRI communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing patients; and improving MRI patient safety and respecting cultural norms for Muslim patients.

2.

Discuss strategic recruitment efforts to boost staff capabilities, capacity and morale, including: a high school program to build a pipeline of future technologists; a leadership initiative to engage rad tech students and reduce dropout rates; and a trainee initiative to enhance the onboarding process and decrease first year turnover.

3.

Learn strategies to launch a mobile mammography service to expand the reach of breast cancer screening to underserved patients, including how to overcome significant barriers to care, such as transportation, scheduling conflicts, and lack of awareness and education in rural communities.
