Improving Cardiac Outcomes: Anatomic and Functional Testing in the Diagnosis of CAD

Coronary CT Angiography (cCTA) has an important role in the evaluation of patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. On occasion it is difficult to determine the clinical importance of a borderline coronary stenosis. Fractional Flow Reserve Computed Tomography (FFRct) HeartFlow analysis provides lesion specific information and helps to aid clinicians in assuring that each patient is on the right treatment pathway by applying physiology to the anatomic findings of the cCTA. Through an advanced, computerized 3D modeling of the coronary arteries, FFRct can potentially eliminate the need for an unnecessary invasive procedure and provide functional data about a coronary stenosis without a stress test. Using static cCTA data and FFRct, we are able to help send patients to the cath lab, but only those who truly need to be there.
